The challenge
A packed, 24-hour hackathon and a photo set for every single guest
Orchestrate gives builders 24 hours to take a real-world problem, ship an agent-based solution and defend it in front of an AI judge. At the October Edition, contestants filled the venue: hacking at tables and lounges, gathering for the kick-off and the leaderboard, and posing with the Orchestrate branding. The event produced 906 photos to get to the right people.
Handing those photos out the usual way would have failed everyone. A shared folder makes each guest scroll through hundreds of other people's photos. It also exposes every attendee's photos to anyone who has the link, which is a real concern at an invite-only event. Sorting by hand takes days, and by then the moment has passed.
Contestants want to post their hackathon photos while they are still talking about the event, not a week later, and only their own photos.
What HackerRank needed
- Each guest gets their own photos, found by their own face
- Privacy and access control for a closed-door event
- No manual sorting for the event or photo team
- Photos delivered fast, while the event is still fresh
- An experience that looks and feels like HackerRank
- Engagement data for the post-event wrap-up
The solution
One email invitation, one face scan, one branded gallery
FotoOwl set up a private, HackerRank-branded gallery and sent guests in through an email invitation. Each need mapped to a FotoOwl capability.
Their own photos only
Face-scan registration from an email invite
Guests open the invitation, scan their face and are registered. AI face recognition then finds every photo they appear in.
Fast delivery
Photos within minutes of upload
Once photos were uploaded, matching ran automatically. Photos reached guests about 5 minutes after upload, on the same day.
A HackerRank experience
Branded custom domain
The gallery runs on a HackerRank web address with HackerRank's logo and its mark on the photos, not FotoOwl's.
Closed-door privacy
Private, access-controlled gallery
The gallery is private, and each guest is shown only the photos they are in, not the whole event.
Proof of engagement
Event photo report & analytics
Registrations, gallery visits, image views, downloads and social visits in one report, ready for HackerRank's post-event wrap-up.

From the invitation, each guest scans their face once on their phone.
- Step 3
Registered, photos found
