JPEG quality90

Higher keeps more detail and makes a bigger file. 90 suits sharing, 95 suits prints.

Half the width and height, much faster. Needed on iPhone and iPad for most camera files, and for 40 MP+ files on low-memory devices.

Your photos never leave this device. Conversion runs in your browser and nothing is uploaded.

How it works

How to convert CR3 to JPG

  1. 1

    Drop your CR3 files

Drag Canon .cr3 files onto the box or choose them from your computer, card reader or phone. Add as many as you like.

  2. 2

    Pick quality and size

Keep quality at 90 for sharing or raise it for prints. Turn on half size for very large files or if your device is low on memory.

  3. 3

    Download the JPGs

Each photo converts in turn, right in your browser. Download a JPG as soon as it is ready while the rest keep going.

What you get

A quick, honest RAW conversion

Good for sharing, previews and client proofs. For a finished edit, keep using your editor.

What it does

  • Full resolution

A 24 MP CR3 becomes a 24 MP JPG. Half size is there when you want smaller files.

  • As-shot color

Uses the white balance your camera recorded and outputs standard sRGB, so colors look right on phones and the web.

  • Correct orientation

Portrait shots come out upright, using the rotation the camera saved.

  • No size or count limit

Nothing is uploaded, so there is no upload cap or daily quota. Files convert one at a time to keep memory in check.

What it doesn't do

  • Match Lightroom or the camera JPEG

This is a basic develop. Canon Picture Styles, Auto Lighting Optimizer, Digital Lens Optimizer, lens corrections and noise reduction are not applied.

  • Copy EXIF data

The JPG has no camera, lens or date metadata. Keep the CR3 if you need it.

  • Edit the photo

There are no exposure, crop or color controls. Use an editor for that and this tool for quick conversions.

  • Read every RAW format

Besides Canon CR3, it converts Sony ARW and Nikon NEF. Canon CR2, Fujifilm RAF and DNG are not supported yet.

Your photos stay on your device

Most online converters upload your RAW files to their servers and delete them hours later. This one runs LibRaw, the open-source RAW decoder used by many photo apps, inside your browser tab. The CR3 is read from your disk, converted there and saved back. No photo is sent anywhere, and you can check that in your browser's network panel.

Works with Canon cameras including

  • EOS R5
  • EOS R6
  • EOS R7
  • EOS R8
  • EOS R10
  • EOS R50
  • EOS R
  • EOS RP
  • EOS M50
  • EOS 90D

Each camera above was tested with a real file, in RAW and C-RAW where available. Other CR3 cameras work too; ones released in the last few months may not decode yet.

FAQ

CR3 to JPG Converter FAQ

Is this CR3 to JPG converter free?

Yes. There is no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on how many files you convert.

Are my photos uploaded anywhere?

No. The converter runs inside your browser tab. Your CR3 files are read from your device, converted on your device and saved back to it. Your browser's network panel shows that no photo is sent.

Will the JPG look like my camera's JPEG or my Lightroom edit?

Close, but not identical. The converter uses your camera's white balance and standard sRGB color. It does not apply Canon Picture Styles, Auto Lighting Optimizer, Digital Lens Optimizer, lens corrections or any edits you made in Lightroom or Capture One.

Which Canon cameras are supported?

Canon cameras that write CR3: every EOS R body, plus EOS M and DSLR models released since 2018 such as the M50 and 90D. Tested ones include the EOS R5, R6, R7, R8, R10, R50, R, RP, M50 and 90D. Cameras released very recently may not decode yet.

Does it convert C-RAW files?

Yes. C-RAW is Canon's smaller, compressed CR3, and it converts the same way as a full RAW CR3. Both use the .CR3 extension.

What about older Canon CR2 files?

CR2 isn't supported yet. This page converts CR3, the format Canon has used since the EOS R and EOS M50 in 2018.

Can I convert many CR3 files at once?

Yes. Drop a whole folder's worth of files and they convert one after another. Each JPG can be downloaded as soon as it is ready.

What does half size do?

It outputs half the width and height, a quarter of the pixels. A 45 MP EOS R5 file becomes about 11 MP. It converts several times faster and needs much less memory, which helps on phones and older laptops.

Why did a file fail to convert?

Usually the browser ran out of memory on a very large file, or the photo was bigger than the browser can draw. Turn on half size and press Retry. If it still fails, the file may be damaged or come from a camera newer than the converter.

Does it work on iPhone and Android?

Yes, in Safari and Chrome. On iPhone and iPad, Safari can't draw images over about 16 MP, so turn on half size for most Canon files. On Android, turn it on if a large file fails.

Is converting CR3 to JPG lossless?

No. JPG is a compressed 8-bit format, so some detail and editing headroom is lost. Keep your original CR3 files for editing and use the JPGs for sharing, previews and client proofs.
